Frequently Asked Questions

If you would like to know a little more about our sea glass jewellery here are a few answers to some more frequently asked questions from our customers.

Where does my piece of sea glass come from?

We collect our sea glass from the beaches in and around Aberystwyth.  We are fortunate in Ceredigion to have several beaches where sea glass is washed up. Sea glass is naturally tumbled by the sea.  It usually appears frosted in its appearance. It is smoothed and rounded over the years. It may take twenty to forty years to form, and sometimes pieces that are more than one hundred years old can be found.  All the sea glass we use in our jewellery pieces is authentic.

What colour sea glass is available?

Here in West Wales we mostly find white, turquoise, green and blue glass on the beach. We have found a few pieces of red, orange and brown but these pieces have not been suitable for jewellery making.

Custom and personalised orders

I would be delighted to make custom pieces for anyone who wishes to supply their own piece of sea glass. It will depend on the size and quality of the glass. There is always a risk when drilling a piece of sea glass that it may break or crack.  Custom orders are undertaken at your own risk. Please contact me for more details.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Each jewellery purchase is carefully gift wrapped and packaged. Jewellery items are supplied on display cards and wrapped in tissue paper before being place in our pillow boxes ready for dispatch.  Each of our sterling silver jewellery pieces is dispatched with a micro fibre silver cleaning cloth and care instructions for your item.

How will my order be sent?

Our order are sent via Royal Mail.  Your postage will be calculated at check out.

How should I care for my piece of sea glass jewellery?

Over time your sea glass may become dull in colour due to the oils in your skin, perfumes and cosmetic lotions. We recommend that you occasionally clean your piece of sea glass using a mild detergent. Rinse in warm water and air dry. You may then lightly oil your sea glass, using baby oil or coconut oil, to restore its shine. We have supplied a jewellery cleaning cloth to keep your silverware clean and tarnish free.

Sea glass is fragile. We advise that you do not wear your sea glass jewellery in water or when sleeping. To prevent any breakage/damage to your jewellery, it is recommended you remove your jewellery when doing exercise.
